MEET MAURICIO

For 23 years, I have appeared daily in Benton County courts, handling thousands of civil and family cases. I’ve mentored new attorneys, represented vulnerable children and families, and earned a reputation for professionalism, compassion, and consistency.

Known for being on time, efficient, prepared, and level-headed, I listen carefully, consider every perspective, and treat everyone with dignity — qualities our next Circuit Judge must have.

My life tells a Benton County story:

  • From blue-collar work to the courtroom
  • From immigrant to attorney
  • From Los Angeles to small-town Arkansas
  • From learning the system to protecting those who depend on it

I’ve spent decades connecting with people in their language, understanding their backgrounds, and being a bridge between communities — especially among our American and Latino families.

Early Education

I was born in a small town in the State of Santa Ana, El Salvador. In 1996, my wife Virginia, our three children, and I moved from Los Angeles to the Northwest Arkansas area. When we arrived, I noticed a growing need for bilingual legal services, especially for the Hispanic community.

With the support of my family, I pursued my education here — earning my Bachelor’s Degree from John Brown University and later graduating from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville School of Law in 2002.

Career/Political Experience

I originally wanted to focus on immigration law, but as I began practicing, I realized that the community needed support in many areas of law. I expanded my practice to serve more than just the Hispanic population, always keeping the commitment to provide professional, competent, and fair legal services to everyone.

I am admitted to practice before:

  • Arkansas Supreme Court
  • Missouri Supreme Court
  • U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas
  • U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Eighth Circuits

I am also a proud member of:

  • American Immigration Lawyers Association
  • Arkansas Bar Association
  • Federal Bar Association
  • American Immigration Lawyers Association

Community Ties

Serving my community has always been as important to me as practicing law. I am actively involved in local organizations, including:

  • Northwest Arkansas Community College, Board of Trustees Member
  • Rogers Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Board Member
  • Credit Counseling of Arkansas, Board Member

I am proud to serve as a bridge between communities, especially American and Latino populations, and I strive to ensure that everyone in Benton County has a voice, is treated fairly, and is represented in our courts.

A Devoted Family Person

Family has always been the center of my life. My wife, Virginia, and I have been married for many years, and together we are proud parents of three wonderful children. Their love and support inspire me every day to serve my community with fairness, integrity, and heart.

WHY I AM RUNNING

Our courts need someone who brings:

  • Broad experience across civil and family law
  • Longstanding community trust and involvement
  • A deep understanding of complex issues and real people
  • A work ethic rooted in responsibility, consistency, and humility
  • A commitment to protecting families, children, and vulnerable individuals
  • A nonpartisan, fair, and impartial approach

I am choosing service over retirement, and stability over disruption — because Benton County deserves a judge who has already proven their dedication over decades.
